Y.E.S. also works throughout the year with other agencies and will set up booths to advise their clients how we can assist them.

School lunch hour booths

Usually held in the Spring of each year. Booths are set up in the hallways during lunch hours at Winnipeg High Schools to provide students with information on how yes can assist them with their job search. Relevant materials are available for students to pick up.

Other: Grade 12 Only

Individual Mock Interviews

These are usually done at the YES office. We can arrange to have your students / clients have mock interiviews by volunteer employers and/or experienced employment counselors. There are two ways that we normally conduct these sessions:

  • Entire classes come at once (accompanied by a teacher). The students will be called from the classroom for their private one-on-one interview. The remaining students are ‘entertained’ by one of our interactive facilitators with job search information and relevant games
  • Students are assigned a time to come to our centre where they will have the one-on-one mock interviews.

For these sessions we ask that the teacher forward a list of the students and their job choices prior to the date.

Individual Portfolio Reviews

Conducted similar to the Mock Interviews however students bring their completed portfolios and are expected to introduce it while the interview is taking place. Some times our staff is invited to schools to perform the evaluations there.

Job Fair Judging

Schools that have career fairs where students present a career choice in a ‘science fair’ style. YES has been excited to participate as judges in these competitions and will be happy to participate in any such event at other schools.

YES Policy:
-A Teacher / worker must remain in the room at all times during the sessions.
-A parking spot must be made available for staff while on location.

Staff will aim to arrive 15 minutes early to set up for any session not held at our centre. We will send out a fax confirmation a week in advance.
